INSPIRING STORY OF GAIL KELLY, CEO OF WESTPAC BY MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER RAJESH CHOUDHARY

Hi all

I am Rajesh Choudhary  I was reading this  book called as “THE SECRET OF LEADERSHIP” by Prakash Iyer and I learnt something very  interesting from this so I thought  of sharing with you all. There is a Lesson called as “IF YOU ARE NOT ENJOYING THE RIDE GET OFF THE BUS” I found something very interesting in this lesson and if you hate your job  then you should surely read the story of Gail kelly. Kelly was born in south africa in an ordinary family as time passed she also got a degree in arts. She got married at the age of 21 to her college sweetheart. A year later she joined as a school teacher. one day kelly got angry on a student for the reason that the student  left his jersey in the sports room and sports room was locked just now and later she regretted that may be she should not have got angry on him . She was not enjoying the profession of being a teacher. She hated going to school and next day when the school bus was moving towards school She told the driver to stop the bus and she got Off the bus and turning point came in her life she resigned as a teacher and she joined a bank she did well in bank and soon she was promoted as H.R. When she was 30 years and she was pregnant she enrolled for MBA After MBA she went to work for the same bank She was doing great in her career. She was soon pregnant again And this time she was carrying triplets After delivery  she joined the bank again. Gail and her husband were concerned about their children. To offer a better future to their children They  migrated to  australia by then Gail was 41 and she joined a bank there in australia she was really enjoying working in a bank . Now make a guess what kelly would have achieved in her carrer. Kelly went on to become the CEO of WESTPAC, which is the largest bank in australia. Now Kelly is one of the wealthiest and well respected people in australia. The lesson in this story is that ”IF YOU DON’T ENJOY THE RIDE GET OFF THE BUS”. Most people if they don’t enjoy the ride still they remain in the bus because the seats are comfortable or the air conditioning is very good even though the bus may be going to destination where they don’t want to go.

So If you are not enjoying the ride may be its time to change the Bus.
